It is a major celebration on the island that’s packed with the most exciting festivities you can imagine.

This includes spectacular parades, costumes, street dancings, competitions, and a lot more.

The date changes every year but it always takes place around February and March. 

What’s The Best Carnival To Attend In Lanzarote?

Each area on the island has a carnival and theme of its own, but Arrecife is a city worth checking out.

Dia De Los Reyes In Lanzarote

Every 6th of January, Dia De Los Reyes or the Epiphany is celebrated in Lanzarote. 

It is only this time when the tradition of Christmas gift-giving happens, as this was the day when the Three Kings gave their presents to baby Jesus. 

What Do The Spanish Do On Three Kings Day?

In Spain, the parade of the Three Kings takes place on the evening of January 5th every year. 

It marks the start of Dia De Los Reyes. Kids (and kids at heart) heavily anticipate the grand procession for a chance to catch some sweets/candies thrown by the kings.

Fiesta San Ginés is the feast day of San Ginés, Arrecife’s patron saint. 

You can expect week-long festivities that include a lot of dancing, food, and even sports. 

And on the last day, the evening of August 25th, you can watch a lovely fireworks display that can be seen from the main beach promenade. 

How Long Does The Fiesta San Ginés Last?

The celebration of Fiesta San Ginés lasts over a week, from August 15th to 25th. 

What Is Iglesia de San Ginés?

Iglesia de San Ginés or Church of Saint Genesius is a small lovely church located in Plaza de Las Palmas, Arrecife. 

It serves as one of the central venues for Fiesta San Ginés activities since it’s dedicated to Arrecife’s patron saint. 

Corpus Christi In Lanzarote

During Corpus Christi, the streets of Arrecife are filled with brightly colored salts and dyes. 

Hundreds of people gather in the area to make salt carpets for the celebration of the Eucharist. 

What Is The Tradition Of Corpus Christi?

The creation of salt carpets on the roads near San Ginés church is one of the traditions done in Lanzarote to celebrate Corpus Christi. 

An important procession from the church across the carpets of salt then takes place the next day.

So, you’d only get to see the vibrant alfombras de sal art for only a day. 

When Is Corpus Christi Celebrated In Lanzarote?

The date of Corpus Christi varies every year. But it’s always observed around Mid-June.

The Lanzarote Visual Music Festival is a cultural event that features the island’s breathtaking natural landscapes and talented artists’ innovative music. 

This celebration of art and nature takes place in October. 

Where In Lanzarote Is The Visual Music Festival Celebrated?

Lanzarote Visual Music Festival is mainly held in venues with fascinating landscapes namely Jameos del Agua and Cueva de Los Verdes Auditoriums.

Who Created The Lanzarote Visual Music Festival?

The artist, Ildefonso Aguilar, suggested its creation. Later on, the Cabildo of Lanzarote sponsored and sustained the event.

Fiestas de Nuestra Señora del Carmen

Fiestas de Nuestra Señora del Carmen is a feast day dedicated to the patron of fisherman — the Virgin of Carmen. 

This fiesta includes celebratory activities like music and artisan fairs. 

What Date Is Fiestas Del Carmen Celebrated?

The Fiestas de la Virgen del Carmen is an annual festival celebrated every July 16th. 

What’s The Highlight Of The Fiestas De Nuestra Señora Del Carmen?

The highlight of the Fiestas de Nuestra Señora del Carmen is perhaps the feast’s maritime procession. 

Fishermen adorn the image of the patron saint, place her in a boat, and take her to the sea.

The tradition is believed to give seafarers protection.
