Is Playa Blanca Upmarket?

It’s easy to assume that Playa Blanca would be an upmarket town because it’s the home of some of Lanzarote’s most spectacular beaches and luxurious hotels.

However, it all boils down to how long you’re staying and what kind of accommodation you prefer.

Today, I’m listing the basic things you need to consider looking into if you’re planning to visit Playa Blanca. This way, you’ll have an idea of how much the trip could cost you.

Travel Info Box: Playa Blanca

BEST FOR: Families, couples seeking a relaxed atmosphere, beach lovers, and fans of coastal walking.
TIME NEEDED: One full day for a general visit or three to five days to fully settle in and enjoy the beaches and local excursions.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy walking since the resort features a long, flat coastal promenade that connects all the main areas.
PRICE: Entering the town and beaches is free, though there is a €3 entry fee for cars to access the Papagayo Beaches. Local bus trips cost roughly €1.40.
DRESS CODE: Casual and comfortable attire is standard. While swimwear is perfect for the beach, a shirt or cover-up is expected when dining in restaurants or shopping in the town center.
CROWD LEVEL: The vibe is moderate and generally more laid-back than Puerto del Carmen. The main town beach and Marina Rubicón tend to be busiest on market days which fall on Wednesday and Saturday.
BEST TIME TO GO: Visit between November and April for ideal winter sun, or choose May, June, September, and October to avoid the peak crowds.
FACILITIES: Public toilets are located near the beaches and inside the Marina. The area is well-equipped with seafront cafés, restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, and souvenir shops along Calle Limones.
TRANSPORT: The local Line 30 bus runs a circular route every 30 minutes, while routes 161 and 162 provide access from the airport. Most visitors prefer walking the coastal promenade or taking the daily ferry from the harbor to Fuerteventura.

How Much Money Do I Need For Playa Blanca?

Flights

You’ll likely get better deals if you book your flights in advance with budget airlines.

Another thing you can do is to pack smart and not buy hold luggage—just use the free included luggage allowance.

Below is a list of airlines that fly to Lanzarote from London.

I also added their official website links, so you can easily check the dates you have in mind and the possible airfare.

Accommodation

Most holidaymakers stay in hotels, and others prefer renting a villa. The cost for a single night in 3 to 4 star hotels (a double-occupancy room) ranges around 130-160 euros, and an Airbnb stay is usually cheaper around 60 euros per night.

But please note that, like in other destinations, Playa Blanca accommodation prices, especially on holidays, tend to skyrocket. So, plan accordingly.

Food

Plenty of restaurants in Playa Blanca offer great meals at affordable prices.

You can get awesome cheap deals and buy an appetising meal for as low as €7.5 and a big beer for only €2.

And if you have a functional kitchen at your accommodation, you can buy fresh ingredients from a nearby supermarket or store and prepare your food.

Local Transportation

You can either choose an airport transfer or ride the local bus to your accommodation upon arrival.

Buses are right outside the airport, and the fare starts at €1.40 for a one-way trip.

If you’re travelling alone or as a couple, taking the bus would be significantly cheaper than car hire.

However, if you’re a big group, airport transfer works better. The split cost would be reasonable, and you’ll have a more private, relaxing trip.

Entertainment

The activities and attractions in PB range from free to extravagant. Most beaches, museums, and other historical sites require a little to no fee.

But if you want to pamper yourself and have great fun, I curated a list of activities and excursions in Playa Blanca for reference.

Gifts

Finally, you’ll probably spend money on souvenirs and gifts to bring back home. In Playa Blanca, you’ll find many local handmade items and food products that would make great presents.

They are carefully crafted and reasonably priced. Items like alcohol and tobacco are cheaper in the Canaries than in the UK.

What Is Playa Blanca Known For? | Is It Worth The Money?

Playa Blanca is commonly known for its breathtaking beaches, particularly Papagayo beach.

But the town offers a lot more than the iconic Papagayo Beach.

It has a stunning marina with an exceptional setting, a diverse selection of restaurants, and other hidden gems of attraction.

The vibes and sceneries of the town alone make Playa Blanca a destination worth visiting.

The overall travel cost is relatively cheaper compared to the unforgettable experience that PB would give you. So yes, it’s worth the money.
