Is Lanzarote Suitable For Kids?
Many people automatically think of beautiful beaches and watersports whenever Lanzarote comes up as a topic.
Naturally, you might wonder if kids would find this destination appealing and suitable for their interests.
The good news is Lanzarote has plenty of family-friendly activities that your kids would like.
From exhilarating waterparks to submarine trips, the island is full of things that guarantee a memorable day out with the kiddos.

What To Do In Lanzarote When It’s Raining?
While Lanzarote is widely known for its winter sun, there are still days when the island’s weather becomes gloomy, and rain pours.
But you don’t have to worry because there are a lot of indoor activities you and your kids could enjoy on a rainy day.
Below are some of the best things you can do when it’s raining in Lanzarote.
Dine In A Dinosaur-Themed Restaurant & Café
Dinosaurs fascinate most kids, and if you’re traveling with little ones that are also fond of these gigantic creatures, Lost World Restaurant & Cafe is a stop you shouldn’t miss.
It is a dinosaur-themed restaurant at Rooftop Biosfera in Puerto del Carmen. Here, you can try delish foods like burgers, pizzas, and hotdogs that most families love.
They also serve yummy milkshakes and smoothies that are popular among kids. And for adults, a good selection of cocktails and wine is available.
Food starts at 4.00€ and drinks at 2.00€. Take a closer look at the full menu.
Aside from appetizing meals, this place is a hit because of its fun, Jurassic aesthetic, as I mentioned earlier. The restaurant is covered by faux greenery, mimicking a wild and lively rainforest where dinosaurs used to live.
There are also gorilla, monkey, giraffe, and butterfly moving displays beside the dino collection, which makes the place an extra special spot for kids who love animals.
Play And Meet New Friends At The Kid’s Club
If what you want is a chill, delightful day for you and the kids, it would be ideal to visit a kid’s club.
Kikoland, a family club and children’s park located at Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel Resort in Playa Blanca, is a good place to start.
There’s a kiddie pool where they can take a quick dip when the skies clear up and an adorable playground where they can play to their heart’s content.
Other kid-friendly facilities include “Kikoland houses” and sports courts.
There are also musical shows and family-themed dinners you can catch depending on what time of the year you’ll visit.
And the best part is there’s a big chance that they could make playmates or friends from the visit.
Fun interactions with other kids would likely make their vacation much happier and unforgettable.
Plus, the club is convenient if you need a break or want to go somewhere where kids aren’t usually allowed.
The friendly staff ensures that your children are supervised and participate in a multitude of fun games and activities.
Try A Live-Action Escape Room Game
This activity is among the top things to do in Playa Blanca and possibly all across Lanzarote. That said, I decided to feature it once again in this post.
Holidaymakers who have tried the Island Quest Escape Rooms cannot stop expressing how much they love the thrilling experience, and it’s totally understandable.
After all, it’s a refreshing and unique indoor activity that leaves players excited and challenged.
There are three in-person games to choose from: The Magic Market, Project Atlantis, and Dino Heist.
Each game has a distinct theme and contains well-thought puzzles & riddles that will make the kids extremely entertained.
It’s a family-friendly activity that’s perfect if you want to develop your kid’s cognitive skills in an entertaining way.
Friendly reminder — all of the games are by appointment only. Be sure to check their price list and book tickets online.
See Movies At A Virtual Cinema
Do your kids love adventures and enjoy stimulating activities? If so, I bet that they will have a great time at X-Treme.
You can find this virtual cinema at the Centro Comercial Papagayo in Playa Blanca.
This one-of-a-kind theater offers a 12D Motion Adventure that will fully immerse your kids in the movie.
They use fun effects such as rain, fog, snow, bubbles, speed, and many more that make the audience feel like they’re actually inside the movie.
And no worries if you’re short of time, there are brief animated adventures/films for you.
Whether you want to be chased by zombies or dinosaurs — this theater will give you an action-packed virtual experience you’ll never forget.
Marvel Around Lava Tunnels
Lava Tunnels like Cueva de Los Verdes and Jameos del Agua might not immediately sound tempting to kids.
But I think after showing them photos of such majestic lava tubes, they’ll change their mind.
You must join either of these tours, especially if you’re traveling with a kid who’s deeply interested in nature and geology.
Both tunnels have stunning auditoriums where musical and cultural Lanzarote events like Lanzarote Visual Music Festival are often held.
The local guides are fluent in both Spanish and English and constantly give the group excellent educational information about the locations.
Is Lanzarote A Good Family Holiday?
Lanzarote offers a wide range of activities for all age groups, making it a great family holiday destination.
Thanks to the island’s extraordinary climate and topography, holidaymakers can enjoy a bunch of lovely activities outside.
Besides relaxing by the beach and sightseeing, below are the best ways to spend a day out with the kids in Lanzarote.
Kart Racing
Have you tried karting before and totally fallen in love with it? In San Bartolomé, you will find a beautiful, impressive track that you can try with your kids.
Lanzarote Karting has karts that are suited for drivers of any age and skill level.
With over two decades of experience in the industry, you can rest assured that you’re in good hands.
There are kiddie electric karts that cost 4€ a token.
These particular karts are ideal for young kids around 3 to 6 years old. The rest of the kart selection includes Cadet, Two-Seater, Junior, and Adult Karts.
Besides the scenic view and accommodating staff, there’s also free pick-up and drop-off from and to all major resorts like Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, and Playa Blanca which I love.
Feel free to check out the Lanzarote Karting website to see the complete price list and learn more about each kart’s specifications.
Play At A Minigolf Course
Love golfing? There’s an adventure mini-golf course in Puerto del Carmen where you and your kids can play.
Forbidden Temple Park recently brought the newest and most exciting mini golf course to the island. It also comes with an onsite bar where you can easily order snacks and drinks.
It has a charming landscape and an interesting layout. The displays and decor would likely be enough to keep the little ones amused.
If you’re staying in Playa Blanca, there’s also a mini golf course behind the bus station.
It might be slightly outdated, but we had a lot of fun playing there. So make sure to check it out if you’re in the area.
Visit The Island’s Waterparks
If you’d ask around what’s the best activity in Lanzarote for kids, most people would answer waterparks. And it’s true!
There are a few waterparks around the island that are worth checking out.
For instance, Aqualava Waterpark in Playa Blanca is a wonderful choice among families.
It boasts facilities like slides with multiple loops, a wave pool with salt water, and a lazy river that will equally impress kids and adults. Check out their website for prices and exclusive offers.
Another popular waterpark in Lanzarote is Aquapark Costa Teguise. It’s the largest one on the island.
Finally, there’s Rancho Texas — a destination with an animal park and a waterpark. Learn more about this attraction below.
Go to The Zoo
Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park is the go-to place for families that wish to see wildlife and other fantastic kid-friendly shows.
The park in Puerto del Carmen is packed with activities that your kids would find interesting.
There are animal exhibitions, pony rides, zip lines, gold nuggets search, and canoes.
There are also restaurants on site to stop by and grab a bite to eat if ever you get exhausted from all the fun.
They launch nonstop entertainment during big holidays.
So if you want to join the grand festivities and limited activities, you might want to visit on Halloween, Christmas, or New Year.
For updated prices and reservations, make sure to check the Rancho Texas website.
Join A Submarine Tour
Do you want your kids to see the abundant marine life in Lanzarote? If yes, one of the best ways to do so is by joining a submarine tour.
The island’s famous tourist submarine is spacious and well-maintained.
All passengers, including children (2+ years old), pregnant women, and people with heart conditions, are welcome aboard.
Through large viewports, you will see tons of sea life like fish, rays, reefs, sea urchins, etc.
The submarine parks on the seabed, approximately 100 ft beneath the Atlantic Ocean.
The trip lasts around an hour or more. Normal rates for adults and children are 59€ and 39€, respectively.
You get a 10% off when you book your Submarine Safari ticket online.
Final Thoughts
I know that traveling with kids might sometimes be challenging. And it’s not easy to find an activity that will keep them engaged for a long time, let alone an unforgettable activity they would genuinely enjoy.
