Honestly, that’s a tricky question. I’ve been to Lanzarote, one of the fascinating islands in the Canaries, a couple of months back.
And it’s hard to say which part is the prettiest because the island is such a wonder.
When you’re there, you just have this urge to constantly take pictures of the crystal waters, rock formations, unique artworks, lively markets — everything!
It’s impossible to pick a single place and claim that it’s the island’s prettiest part.
So instead, I want to share with you the top 11 Instagrammable spots that I think you’d find beautiful.

1. Montaña Roja
Montaña Roja is an unmissable destination, especially if you’re staying in Playa Blanca.
It is located in the southern part of Lanzarote and it towers over the recently established resort.
The hike to the top often takes about an hour or less, and I’m telling you — it’s worth it.
Right at the top is the perfect spot to take spectacular photos of Playa Blanca’s panoramic view.
The views from the mountain top are so breathtaking, that you won’t even need to do much.
Random wide shots of the scenery would be enough to impress your followers.
However, if you really want to capture some phenomenal photos, I recommend that you climb the mountain before sunrise or sunset.
The natural dramatic lighting from the sun during those times would make your pictures 10x better.
Is Montana Roja Active?
Montaña Roja is an extinct volcano. It’s no longer active, so you won’t have to worry about lava or possible eruption.
You can even walk and tour around its crater.
Can You Walk Up Montana Roja?
Yes, you can walk up Montaña Roja. Aside from hiking, other people also do other activities like running, birdwatching, biking, and meditating on the mountain.
Just make sure that you wear some durable trainers and bring water to drink.
2. Jardín de Cactus
Do you find succulents and desert plants interesting? If yes, then you shouldn’t miss visiting Jardín de Cactus.
This quarry-turned-garden is one of César Manrique’s famous works in Lanzarote.
You might have already seen it once or twice on your IG feed because many holidaymakers rave about its beauty.
It is located in Guatiza, a village in Las Palmas. You need to pay a small entrance fee to see the display. You can buy tickets online through their website.
The garden is full of diverse species of cacti and its lovely layout offers you multiple corners to take great photos.
There are also an on-site restaurant, adorable pond, traditional mill, and small shop to check out.

3. La Geria Vineyards
Lanzarote has a very distinct way of cultivating vines that they use in their wine production.
You’ll see what I mean when you visit La Geria Vineyards.

The seemingly endless rows of funnel-shaped hallows that Lanzaroteños dug in this valley to plant and protect their crops could wow any audience.

If you head to the west side of the harbor, towards Pechiguera lighthouse, you’ll find a very serene and laid-back beach — Playa Flamingo.

I’d say that the beach’s best features are its calm shining waters and relaxing ambiance.
Plus, there’s a small charming viewpoint where you can completely enjoy the seascape.
The viewpoint’s chains hold hundreds (perhaps even thousands) of colorful “love locks” that add extra charm to the place.
It is an ideal Instagram spot to take sweet photos with your travel buddies. And most especially, with your significant other.
5. Playa del Papagayo
A list of the best beaches in Playa Blanca wouldn’t feel complete unless it mentions the splendid Playa del Papagayo.
If you wish to take photos that will stir excellent wanderlust, here’s the spot for you.
Playa del Papagayo is the most well-known among Papagayo’s five beaches, and for a good reason.
It’s a secluded beach, hidden in the middle of gorgeous ridges.
The turquoise crystal waters and fine white sands make it an ideal place for swimming, sunbathing, and most especially — picture taking.
There are restaurants on the clifftop where you can dine in, relax, and take perfect shots of the picturesque beach.
I recommend getting there early before the crowd gets bigger if you want to get some solid solo photos.

Playa de Papagayo is located inside Los Ajaches National Park, a protected area, so you must pay a €3 entrance fee to get in.
And take note that they accept card payments only, cash isn’t accepted.
How Do You Get From Playa Blanca To Papagayo?
The best way to get from Playa Blanca to Papagayo is through car hire.
Head east on to Calle de Papagayo.
Then at the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenida de Papagayo.
It’s easy to know where to go onwards since there are plenty of street signs to guide you.
Another option is to join a boat excursion from Marina Rubicon that heads straight to Papagayo Beach.
6. Cueva De Los Verdes
Located in the Haria municipality, the northern part of the island, Cueva De Los Verdes is a gem that everyone should visit.
This underground lava tube used to be a hiding place during pirate attacks in the 16th and 17th centuries.
And by the 1960s, the island council requested artist Jesús Soto to apply light and shadow treatments to the sanctuary to enhance its ambiance and overall look.
It has remained open to the public since then.
The combination of the fantastic mood lighting, rock formation, and subtle music make the space extra special.

7. El Golfo

If what you want is a town with a huge market and pretty alleys where you can take pleasant strolls and cute pictures, Teguise is the place for you!
Before Arrecife, this charming town used to be Lanzarote’s capital.
Until now, it remains one of the most visited destinations on the island.
Teguise offers you an amazing location to not only take Instaworthy photos but also explore Lanzarote’s rich culture.
It features plenty of interesting establishments and activities you would enjoy.
There’s the Teguise market, famed for being the largest of all Lanzarote markets, that hosts numerous stalls where you can buy awesome souvenirs.

Villa de Teguise, one of the oldest towns in the entire Lanzarote, is situated very close to Costa Teguise.
9. LagOmar Museum
Created by two of the island’s best local artists, César Manrique and Jesús Soto, LagOmar Museum is a haven for arts and architecture enthusiasts.
The museum — located in Nazaret, Las Palmas — is widely known as Omar Sharif’s house.
The enormous property used to be the actor’s home until he lost it to a gambling game back in the 1970s.
Now, it’s one of the most iconic tourist destinations and picture-taking spots in Lanzarote.
It is ingeniously constructed to combine the beauty of nature and art.
The fascinating caves, the beautiful pond, and the extraordinary garden landscape are just a few of its charms.
10. Timanfaya National Park
If you think that Timanfaya National Park looks familiar, it is because the Las Montañas del Fuego, or The Mountains of Fire is located in this massive park.
This park together with its most famous feature, The Mountains of Fire, is the scenery you often see in articles, postcards, and other media related to Lanzarote.
You can visit this national park in the southwest region of the island.
It is such a prominent destination that you can’t miss it.
Because of how vast it is, the mountains reflect multiple colors on their landscapes.

Marina Rubicón is a lovely modern port located in Playa Blanca.
It is a typical stop for anyone who fancies a relaxing moment to admire the resort’s seascape and docked exquisite yachts.
There’s also a lively seafront promenade with a good range of restaurants and bars.
And you can also browse several shops for unique and handcrafted souvenirs.
This is the ultimate place to capture some superb photos that highlight the resort’s high-end features and admirable growth.
