How To Choose A Place To Stay In Playa Blanca, Lanzarote
It’s important to ask the right questions so you can make the best decission when choosing a place to stay in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote.
What is being cleaned and how often?
See if there’s an on-site cleaning service, and learn which areas or parts of the place are specifically included.
You may also want to ask how often the cleaning happens and if the towels are being changed.
Am I renting a room or the whole villa?
Double-check with the property owner if the place is charged per room or villa because some charge per room used, even though you’re renting the entire villa.
This happened to us last year when the landlord locked all the unused rooms even though the villa was only for us.

What’s the internet coverage?
This is an essential question to ask, particularly if you often need an internet connection for work.
Some places tend to have a weaker connection when you’re not in the main room where the router’s located.
A villa we rented did not have WiFi coverage in the garden, bedrooms, or kitchen — the only way to get WiFi was to stay in the living room.
What channels are on TV? Does it have Netflix?
While most places have Netflix, you still have to check with the landlords and ask them to set the language to English because most of the TVs are set to Spanish.
Luckily enough, I know Spanish and was able to change the language myself.
What’s provided?
Some provide basic breakfast and coffee, others provide towels.
Ask before traveling to know what to pack.
Also, some charge extra for amenities like the hot tub.
Just because the villa is equipped with one, doesn’t mean you will have access to it free of charge.
With that being said, it’s best to ask the owners on the get-go which amenities and services are free and which will incur additional expenses.
Is there a pool? If so, is it heated?
Also, ask if it’s a communal pool and if there are seats around the pool.
During winter months, the pool is not really usable unless it is heated.
A few years back we rented a place with a communal pool, but when we arrived there, the pool was half empty and there were no chairs or loungers to sit on. We could not use it.

On another trip, our villa had a pool that was supposed to be heated but the owner tried to save money by not turning the heating on.
We had to specifically ask for the pool to be heated as described in the listing when we rented it.
Look At Local Shops/ Supermarkets

It’s also important to know whether the place you want to stay at has nearby local shops or supermarkets.
Having shops or stores around your rental offers you great convenience and makes it easier for you to grab the supplies you’d need.
Assess The Area’s Public Transport

There are a few ways to go around Playa Blanca, but riding the bus and taking a taxi are some of the most affordable ways to do so.
That’s why it’s advisable to assess the rental location’s public transport.
Is there a nearby bus stop? Do taxis frequent the area? Knowing the answers to such questions can help you save money and time during your stay.
One thing worth mentioning is checking the enclosure around your villa.

Where we stayed last year, there was a wall around the compound and all the exit doors were locked at night.
We couldn’t take the bus, so we had to spend extra money traveling by taxi.
Look At Bars And Restaurants

Don’t forget to look at some of the bars and restaurants around the place, and see if the food and vibe fit your preference.
See if these are spots you’d likely enjoy upon your visit or not.

Ask On Forums Or Facebook Groups
Finally, asking online and getting other people’s opinions can be very helpful when deciding on a place to stay.
You can join Facebook groups like Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and Playa Blanca, Lanzarote to interact with locals and fellow holidaymakers.
This way, it’ll be easier to learn the ideal options and end up with the best one.
